Running a Triple Bottom Line Business

When we started The PEAK Fleet, being environmentally and socially responsible was at the top of our list of behavioral norms. We believe that thriving in business should not just be about maximizing profit but doing right by people and our planet. We set out from the start with goals to give back to our community in the form of volunteering and discounting our services so that more groups, like schools and nonprofits, could afford access to organizational improvement services.

In 2018, we became acquainted with Benefit Corporations for Good (BCFG), and we knew we had found an organization and members that aligned with our values and norms. We completed our first BCFG certification in early 2019 and have been active contributors to the BCFG community.

Each year, we write a BCFG Annual report which reveals the results of our environmental and social efforts over the prior year and also describes our plans for continuing our triple-bottom-line (people, planet, + profit) efforts in the coming year. For 2023, we have increased our volunteer leadership efforts, and also plan to continue our involvement in BCFG’s activities to support the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

We highly recommend all business owners take a triple-bottom-line approach to decision-making and operating principles regardless of whether formal certification is sought. Asking yourself “How does this decision affect our community, my employees and partners, and the environment?” was our chosen path.
